More To Explore In St. Croix

Sightsee in historic Christiansted and Frederiksted, snorkel at Cane Bay and Buck Island Reef, sightsee at the George Village Botanical Garden and much more.

Things to Do in St. Croix:

Christiansted

Stroll along cobblestone walkways of this square-mile town — the largest in St. Croix — and delight in the quaint Danish architecture that surrounds you everywhere you look. Explore the age-old Christiansvaen fort, shop in one of the many duty-free stores or simply savor the flavor of a mouthwatering snack in one of the town's many eateries.

Christiansted National Historic Site

Step back in time during a tour of this fascinating seven-acre park which boasts five historic buildings that provide an eye-opening glimpse into the Danish way of life from 1733 through 1917.

Frederiksted

Explore this scenic seaside town, which is awash with duty-free shops, restaurants and historic buildings bedecked in ornate Victorian architecture. Tour the museum and art gallery at Fort Frederik, built in the mid-18th century to ward off pirates, or simply sit back under a gazebo and surrender to the coastal views at Emancipation Park.

Cane Bay

Sunbathe on soft white sands, snorkel or dive amidst the 1,000-feet deep drop off point located not too far offshore known as "the wall," or drift off to the sounds of breaking waves under the shade of a swaying palm at this slice of paradise.

Cruzan Rum Distillery

Discover the centuries-old process of rum production at this historic rum factory founded in 1760, and behold the ruins of the site's original sugar plantation.

Salt River Bay National Historical Park and Ecological Reserve

Soak up the beauty of this wildlife sanctuary — home to the very spot where Christopher Columbus landed back in 1493 during his journey to discover the New World — on a nature hike, and marvel at the unspoiled natural surroundings that include mangrove forests, estuaries and several fascinating prehistoric and colonial archeological sites.

Buck Island

Sail to the only underwater U.S. National Park, located approximately two miles from Christiansted, and discover an awe-inspiring wonderland of colorful fish and amazing coral formations, compliments of a barrier reef that surrounds the island. Then, venture to Turtle Beach, voted one of the most beautiful beaches by Nation Geographic.

St. George Village Botanical Garden

Surround yourself in the beauty, history and culture of St.Croix during a visit to this 16-acre site which features over 1500 native and exotic species of flora amidst the restored ruins of a 19th-century sugar plantation.

The Sandy Point Wildlife Refuge

Breathe in the fresh air as you make your way along the two miles of sandy beaches of this preserve, which is located at the southwest side of St. Croix, and snap a picture of the prehistoric Aklis Archeological Site and the many leatherback turtles that call this place home.
